Chicago Bears NFL Draft Prospect Watch: New Year’s Day Bowl Games

Outback Bowl: Iowa vs. LSU (Jan. 1, 1 p.m. ET)
Iowa
ILB James Morris
Morris is a prototype Big Ten inside linebacker, meaning he doesn’t have the best measurables or isn’t the biggest guy, but he just has a nose for the football. He projects as another mid-round prospect who could provide added depth to a Bears defense that will need an infusion of youth.
LSU
SS Craig Lost0n
Loston fits a Phil Emery pick; a prospect with good measurables, top speed and experience against top competition. Loston is listed as the #4 safety prospect, projecting to go somewhere around Round 3.
Other to watch: DT Ego Ferguson (Round 2) and DT Anthony Johnson (Round 3).
Capital One Bowl: Wisconsin vs. South Carolina (Jan. 1, 1 p.m. ET)
Wisconsin
ILB Chris Borland
It’s easy to find the 5’11” linebacker on the field. Just look for the ball and he’ll be nearby. He’s another Big Ten type of linebacker with more substance than style. He’s drawn comparisons to Zach Thomas and could be a 2nd or 3rd round pick if teams can overlook his size.
South Carolina
DE Jadaveon Clowney
There are a few prospects to watch in this game for the Bears. Obviously Clowney is the big name who made a name for himself in the Outback Bowl a year ago, but his stock has slipped and any more slippage could help him drop to the Bears.
Others to watch: DT Kelcy Quarles (Round 2-3) and cornerback Victor Hampton (Round 3)
