Chicago Bears free-agent-to-be Corey Wootton had to undergo surgery to repair a hip that bothered him all season. That’s a tough break for a true professional who really sacrificed by moving inside to play DT out of position in a cotract year. If there’s a silver lining to all of this, maybe his price tag is reduced.
There’s more fallout from the Mel Tucker non-firing. DaWindy City asks to give Tucker a chance. Brad Biggs isn’t necessarily a Tucker apologist, but he suggests we see what Tucker can do calling the shots.
The Bears are starting to move to replace their fired assistants. Here’s the first move we’re aware of:
RT @MikeGarafolo: Former Buccaneers DC Bill Sheridan will meet with the Bears this week about an assistant job under retained DC Mel Tucker

Re: last tweet. Bill Sheridan has experience as a LB coach w/ the Giants '05-'08 and Dolphins in '10 & '11

Sheridan was also the DC in 2009 for the Gaints and was recently the DC for the Bucs in '12 & '13 before being let go in January

Martellus Bennett is having fun this offseason, especially on social media. His latest victim? RGIII, who addressed his critics on Facebook. @MartysaurusRex is not impressed.
There are a couple of fresh mock drafts that I looked at today from our FanSided friends. Check out this one and that one.
In NFL news, Peyton Manning made headlines yesterday when he said he couldn’t wait to get a Bug Light after the Broncos big win over the Chargers. Of course, Bud Light tried to jump on the exposure. The results were an epic fail.
Seahawks are trying to keep Niners fans out of CenturyLink Field on Sunday by limiting ticket sales to just 6 states. The Seahawks already had undercover cops dressed as opposing fans earlier this season in an effort to reduce unruly behavior toward visiting fans.
The Titans hired Ken Wisenhunt, which means the Lions will have to continue their search. We can’t confirm if he asked to hitch a ride to Nashville on the Lions’ private plane. Detroit’s latest favorite candidate is apparently Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell.
Here’s your daily update on Manning – Brady XV, otherwise known as the AFC Championship game.
In case you missed it, this pastor gave the abbreviated service to get to the Niners-Panthers game.
