"Yeah, they did. But it’s nothing that doesn’t happen in free agency all the time. However, if Minnesota had not thrown this offer on the table, it was likely that Griffen would have signed with the Denver Broncos. Given Griffen’s talent and statistics as only a backup, it’s encouraging to think what he could do in a full time role. You seemingly always have to pay a premium to keep excellent players from leaving in free agency."
