The Bears certainly need some help in their secondary, with a pressing need at safety.  Major Wright was a major wrong last season and he’s Lovie Smith’s problem now.  Chris Conte is still the Bears problem, but he’s recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.  Phil Emery is doing his due diligence to address the safety position in the upcoming draft by bringing in one of the top safety prospects for a pre-draft visit:

Pryor has been soaring up draft boards coming off a strong combine.  I left him off my Reader’s Mock Draft, instead choosing to have Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who was still surprisingly on the board, as a choice for safety.  It wouldn’t at all surprised if Emery zigged by taking a safety when everyone thought he should zag and take DT Aaron Donald or another cornerback.

Pryor and Clinton-Dix have slightly different games.  Clinton-Dix has more range, which would make him a better choice for a free safety, while Pryor is known as a big hitter who would be big in run support.  Considering the Bears brought in Ryan Mundy, who’s a strong safety, maybe Pryor would be the better fit?

What do you think? Would you consider Pryor at #14, assuming you can’t trade back?  Would you take him over DT Aaron Donald or Ha Ha Clinton-Dix?
