Reader’s Mock Draft: San Diego Chargers are the Clock
Team Needs:
Cornerback: The re-signing of Richard Marshall was not exactly overwhelming for this secondary that was 29th in the league against the pass. This team MUST use the draft to address cornerback, especially if you plan on competing with the Denver Broncos.
Outside Linebacker: The Dwight Freeney signing last year ended up really not adding anything as he eventually landed on IR in October. The Chargers finished 2013 with 35 sacks – 23rd in the NFL. They did nothing to upgrade their ability to sustain quarterback pressure in the offseason.
Nose Tackle: Cam Thomas is gone to the Steelers, and he wasn’t anything to jump up and down about anyway. The Bolts may use their first pick to address this as this position is key to success in a 3-4 defense.
Wide Receiver: Keenan Allen was a stud last year and Eddie Royal looked very impressive at times, in the slot. However, Vincent Brown didn’t get the memo and Malcom Floyd sustained an major injury. They need a receiver with some size that can stay healthy.
