Matt Forte was not happy when the NFL Network Offseason rankings came out this week and he was ranked #91. There are 8 other running backs ranked ahead of Matt Forte in the list and a simple little tweet from Matt Forte and you know he felt disrespected.
This might have been lost in the draft shuffle, rankings, and excitement that was the NFL draft weekend, but even though these type of offseason rankings are just filler for the NFL Network, its amazing that players get bent out of shape about it, and in the back of my mind I’m kind of excited that this possibly could be the small thing that makes Forte more focused during his offseason workouts to have his biggest season to date in the upcoming 2014 season.
Matt Forte did come on to NFL Network to defend his complaint with the rankings and this is how the interview went with Warren Sapp and company:
Matt Forte did have his best statistical season in the Mark Trestman offense. Forte rushed for a career high 1,339 yards on 289 attempts with 9 TDs, while catching 74 balls for a career high 594 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Matt Forte ended up being 2nd in the NFL in rushing trailing only LeSean McCoy and was fourth in receiving by a running back so he has a right to feel slighted in this 2014 version of the NFL Network rankings.
Let’s hope and cheer for the fact that Pfffff means his best season ever and a long playoff run come next January! You deserved Better #22 now you have all summer to prepare to prove it in 2014!!!
