Now to move on to our second number 78, Lee Pegues…
Pegues joins the Bears after starting 27 of 43 games in 4 years at East Carolina University. The 6-2, 291 lb. defensive tackle was named second-team All- Conference USA as a senior in 2013. Pegues went undrafted in this years draft and was scooped up by the Bears following the draft while they were filling out their 90 man roster.
Pegues faces an uphill battle to make the final roster this season. The Bears drafted two defensive tackles in the second and third round respectively, and are also bringing back incumbents Jeremiah Ratliff, Nate Collins and Stephen Paea. The Bears might keep 5 defensive tackles on the roster this year, but they definitely won’t keep 6 and I don’t think he will beat out any of the players I listed previously. He might be a practice squad player.
