Chicago Bears Training Camp Preview: Running Backs

3 of 3

Final 53-man Roster Projection

Forte, Fiammetta, Carey, Ford

Forte is a lock.  Unless the Bears bring in a late-comer, Fiammetta is likely to stick.  It would take a major blunder by Carey to miss out on a roster spot as a draft choice.  Rookie free agent Jordan Lynch is a nice story, but he’s not ready for Sundays just yet.  I think Lynch sticks on the practice squad as he transitions from QB to RB.

Final Word

If Matt Forte can avoid the running back cliff, it sets up as another big year for him in Trestman’s offense.  He’ll also need to hold off rookie 4th rounder Ka’Deem Carey, who could take some carrier away from Forte.  Whoever wins the third running back spot will need to be a big contributor on special teams.
