Next up is undrafted rookie free agent Ryan Groy…
Groy started 33 games for the University of Wisconsin during his college career which spanned from 2009-2013. After redshirting in 2009, He set a school record with 54 games played and never missed a game for the Badgers. The big guard has great size for the position at 6-5 320 lbs., and helped the Badgers set single season school records with 480.8 yards per game and 3689 total rushing yards last season.
Despite his tremendous playing career and being rated much higher by most draft analysts, Groy went undrafted in this year’s draft and was likely a victim of this being an extremely deep draft class.
I think Groy will add quality competition during training camp, but his outlook for making the final roster is bleak. He’s definitely a backup, and that means he will have to prove himself better than drafted fellow rookie Charles Leno Jr. or Veteran James Brown. I don’t think Groy has the versatility that either of those two players have, but he could wind up on the practice squad.
