I knew little to nothing about Tony Fiammetta, until last year’s Monday night game against Green Bay.
After re-watching that glorious win, I noticed something. I noticed that Tony Fiammetta made an absolutely pivotal block on AJ Hawk that opened a lane for Matt Forte to reach the first down marker, and subsequently seal the win for the Bears. It was then that I started to pay attention to Fiammetta.
Being a fullback is pretty much like being a personal bodyguard to the halfback. Fiammetta is a prototypical fullback that consistently makes blocks, has deceptively quick feet, and has a decent set of hands coming out of the backfield.
Having appeared in all 16 games last year, Marc Trestman seems to be comfortable with Fiammetta in his offense. After being inked to a two-year extension, the Bears seem to trust Fiammetta to open up holes for Matt Forte.
