We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Kickoff series last season that we decided to do it again.  In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Bears September 7th season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

M.D. Jennings went undrafted out of Arkansas State. He signed with the Packers in 2011. This past offseason, the Bears signed safety Melvin Delanie “M.D.” Jennings to a one year contract, adding him to the mix of 7 safeties currently on the roster.

During his time with the Packers, Jennings started all 16 games for Green Bay and amassed 133 tackles and one interception (it would have been two interceptions, but if you recall, Jennings was the defender that CLEARLY intercepted Russell Wilson’s “touchdown” pass that would later be known as the “Fail Mary”). I feel like Jennings is a long shot to make the team, given the Bears very crowded safety position, but absolutely anything can happen in training camp.

Be on the lookout for our Countdown to Kickoff series as we continue to work our way to the season opener on September 7th. We’re 37 days from kickoff.  Are you ready???
