A Fan’s Non-expert Take on the Bears Preseason Win over the Eagles

I’m back. Not in full swing though, it’s just the preseason. Preparations need to be made.
I needed to clean out my turkey fryer for wings. There was an inch of muck on the bottom. Then I will fill with new oil, I use creamy shortening from Sam’s Club. I take fresh chicken wings and cut off the tips and portion them. I bread them and then use Frank’s Red Hot Wing sauce, Buffalo strength. Ranch on the side.
When I was growing up, before the big “wing explosion,” wings were dirt cheap. They were almost considered scrap. 29 cents a pound was not unusual. Nowadays forget it. 99 cents a pound is about the best you’ll see, usually more. I wouldn’t bring this up, but with all that I have to buy during football season, I need a new supplier. Some chicken house near my home where I can score a bargain. I will keep looking.
I started a new post-game article last season. Under the category Bear Witness, “A Fan’s Non-expert take on the Bears (W/L) against whoever they played.” It’s just my take on the game. It’s not expert analysis. I don’t give you a lot of stats. I try to capture what an average fan may be experiencing during the game.
That is not to say that Bears fans are average. We are the best fans in the world. We have been on the cusp of greatness for too long. That is about to change.
All the pieces are in place.
Now, on to our team’s preparations.
Of course I wasn’t able to view the Eagles game until 1PM EDT Saturday on NFL network. I am an out of market Bears fan.
I wasn’t even going to start doing my post until the regular season, but my editor has a way of changing my mind. Forgive me for being late, usually these come out the day after the game.
I actually enjoyed watching the Eagles at Bears. It seemed a little more lively than a usual preseason game. It’s also nice to finally see our guys all suited up and on the field after what I consider, way too long of an off season.

I was pretty impressed on both sides of the ball. Special Teams let a kick return touchdown happen, but I’ll let it slide. Get it out of your system now, be done with it.
4 Takeaways was sweet, keep doing it during the season. Our offense is going places again. With a top ten defense, we will be set.
Jimmy Clausen will be backup QB at this rate, and that always has some bearing on our season. I’d like to think it will be different this time, but I used to believe that about my ex-girlfriend. Guess what? It wasn’t.
The moral of this story is always have a good backup girlfriend.
