We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Kickoff series last season that we decided to do it again.  In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Bears September 7th season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

23 days. Getting real close. We even get to ease ourselves into it with some preseason games. Win or lose, we just don’t want any major injuries.

Kyle Fuller was selected in the first round by the Bears and I believe they made a good choice. He is a former Hokie and corner back, and will eventually be replacing Charles “Peanut” Tillman. That’s a tall order. Tillman is the best CB the Bears have ever had, and if that wasn’t enough pressure, to go with first round expectations, the Bears didn’t even bat an eye and gave him the number of the best return man in NFL history, Devin Hester.

I think he will live up to it. He can spend this season drinking from the “Peanut Punch” bowl and hopefully compliment Tim Jennings on the other side. He needs to be able to keep up with Calvin Johnson of Detroit twice a year, and whoever else is our opponents #1 WR is. I’d say that Jennings would move over once Tillman’s gone, but I think he is a tad short for that, though his coverage on taller players is excellent.

We’ll see over the next couple years if this first rounder was a good move.

The last first rounder named Kyle is doing just fine.
