Position: Return Specialist

This is a serious concern right now as all the candidates have disappointed so far. Hopefully Chris Williams can lock down the job once he returns from his hamstring injury.

Down: Michael Ford – I’m not sure why Ford only got 1 chance to return a kick Thursday, but the fact that he muffed it before picking it up and running for 19 yards isn’t going to help his chances of getting another one.

Down: Micheal Spurlock – Muffed a punt which is unacceptable for a 31-year old NFL veteran. Spurlock also caught a punt with what seemed like plenty of room to run, but he ran backwards then danced around for what amounted to a 7-yard return. It looked like a 20-yd+ possibility to me. His 19-yard kick return and 2.3 yard average on punt returns aren’t going to help his chances to make the team either.

Down: Eric Weems – A crucial fumble and 4 lackluster returns ultimately led to Weems release from the Bears.

No Change: Chris Williams – Get well soon Chris!
