We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Kickoff series last season that we decided to do it again. In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Bears September 7th season opener against the Buffalo Bills.
17 more days. 2 weeks and some change. We are facing Seattle in tomorrow’s preseason battle and I believe it will be a good test. It’s loud there, it’s a full-on dress rehearsal for the regular season, and it’s against the Super Bowl champs.
I could say I don’t care if we win, but it would be a lie.
Now, onto our #17, Alshon Jeffery…….
I don’t know if they have a nickname for him yet, how’s Human Highlight Reel?
As a Bears fan, I fell in love with this player last season, his second with the team, like the rest of you. He is the definitive go-up-and-get-it guy.
I remember there was a three-week period where he had amazing catches each week. Balls that really shouldn’t have been caught. Alshon plucked them out of the sky as if they were handed to him by Papa Bear himself. There was more than that though, he broke the franchise record for the most receiving yards in a game with 249, and just basically grab after unbelievable grab.
2012 when he first came I didn’t think much of him. He was injured a lot and, honestly, I was so caught up in the addition of Brandon Marshall, (hands down the best receiver we have ever had,) I didn’t stop to think about a second pro bowl WR on our team! For most of my life, offense has not been where we hang our Bear hat.
So last season Alshon hits the NFL by storm and now we get to hear the term “Arguably the best WR duo in the league.”
I also want to add that for how good the pair are, they have to be the most humble WRs ever. Good receivers tend to be loud-mouthed divas.
Alshon Jeffery is one half of The best WR receiver duo in the league.
There’s no arguing about it.
I still have to pinch myself sometimes.
