We’ve finally finished the Chicago Bears Top 100 countdown and it was a heck of a 100 days.  I have to admit that it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.  Comparing players across different eras is difficult, especially comparing and ranking offensive linemen and even some defensive linemen and linebackers.  Tackles and sacks didn’t become official statistics until the 80’s, so it’s hard to draw conclusions with limited information.

  • I’m not the biggest Chicago Bears historian out there, so this series really helped me learn a lot about the Chicago Bears before the mid 80’s when I really started to understand football and become a fan.

I’ve seen a few comments throughout the process, with people asking for a recap.  I should have put this together sooner, but now that we’ve unveiled the whole list, it’s appropriate to divulge the list in it’s entirety.  Looking back, there are some changes that I’d make.  We didn’t do a ton of research when we were ranking some of the old timers, and after more analysis was done, it was clear that some players were underrated and some were overrated.  I would say that I’m pretty satisfied with the Top 25 and as we got closer to the top of the list, we got better rankings.   So hit next and check out the full list of our Chicago Bears Top 100.
