PACKERS

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Packers convincingly last Thursday night 36-16 to kickoff the 2014 NFL season. Green Bay struggled offensively with Aaron Rodgers managing just 189 yards passing with one touchdown and one interception. The running game wasn’t much better as Eddie Lacy and James Starks combined for just 71 yards on the ground. Lacy left the game early with a concussion and will be a key player to watch in the coming weeks as it was the second concussion he has sustained during his brief two-year NFL career.

Defensively the Packers were simplify over matched by the speedy Seahawks offense and will likely have several more similar performances this season. Green Bay will need to free up linebackers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers more often in order to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. For now, the Packers will look ahead to the New York Jets this weekend followed by a conference battle against the Lions in Detroit.
