Fantasy Football: Week 3 Recap

Players Who Played Well:

Rashad Jennings: After rushing for 110 yards on 34 carries in the first two weeks, Jennings went off in Week Three finishing with 176 yards on 34 carries in what was a career game for the 29-year old.

Backup Running Backs: The Kansas City Chiefs won without star running back Jamaal Charles because backups Knile Davis and Joe McKnight combined for 33 caries for 135 yards with six catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns. Veteran Fred Jackson was one of the few players on the Bills this week to produce solid fantasy numbers finishing with over 17 points. LeGarette Blount scored a touchdown on just 10 carries for 118 yards. Of the 15 top scoring fantasy running backs in Week Three, eight of them were backups to begin Sunday. If you have a top waiver position, now may be the time to use it.

Players Who Didn’t Play Well:

Tom Brady: The Patriots quarterback managed to reach a new season-high on Sunday, but with just 15 points against a Raiders team that is second to last in time of possession the former MVP continues to disappoint fantasy owners in 2014.

Randall Cobb: The only wide receiver to end up in the top 15 in scoring for both Week One and Week Two couldn’t sustain his success in Week Three, finishing with under three fantasy points.

Players On the Rise:

Chris Ivory: After seeing Ryan Mundy sprint past Chris Johnson for the end zone on Monday Night Football I’m beginning to wonder how much the six-time 1,000 yard runner has left. Ivory was seen bulldozing through Bears defenders last night while Johnson’s longest rush was only six yards.

Martellus Bennett: With four touchdowns in the Bears first three games Bennett is sure to shatter his pervious career-high of five touchdowns. In fact, the way he’s playing, don’t be surprised if the 6’6” tight end to gives Ditka a run for his money as far the Bears tight end touchdown record is concerned (12 touchdowns).  The time to big-low may have already passed.
