Led by quarterback Matthew Stafford and their stifling defense, the Lions picked up their third victory of the season, defeating the Jets 24-17 on the road. The win helped Detroit improve to 3-1 and moved them into sole possession of first place in the NFC North. Star receiver Calvin Johnson caught just two passes for 12 yards in the contest, but Stafford utilized his other available weapons on offense, including Golden Tate who racked up an impressive eight catches for 116 yards. The Lions’ running game remains anemic, but with the defense suffocating most opponents and the passing game successful, Detroit should be able to contend — at the very least for a Wild Card spot — until the very end of the season.
