NFC North Coach of the Year: Jim Caldwell, Detroit Lions

Simply put, Caldwell has done everything right for Detroit that previously head coach Jim Schwartz did wrong. He has harnessed a tenacious defense and helped make it the best in the league. And somehow, someway he has helped the Lions’ offense overcome incredible kicking woes and a nagging injury to Calvin Johnson to an NFC North-leading 6-2 record. Caldwell appears to be the steady, calming presence that this team greatly needed. Caldwell and the Lions will have a difficult time keeping their hold on the division with the surging Packers not far behind though.

Honorable Mention: Mike McCarthy, Green Bay Packers
