I wanted to see how the interceptions broke down by down:

  • 9 were thrown on 1st down
  • 3 were thrown on 2nd down
  • 6 were thrown on 3rd down

It’s both surprising and frustrating that half of the interceptions were thrown on 1st down.  There are at least two more opportunities to “live to fight another day” when you’re throwing the ball on first down.  It’s inexcusable to be throwing so many 1st down picks.
