The last category I wanted to check was the pressure that Cutler was under when he threw his interception. It’s somewhat subjective, especially from my couch rather than with angry men in your face on the field. But here’s what I came up with:
- 4 were thrown while under high pressure
- 8 were thrown under moderate pressure
- 6 were thrown under relatively low pressure
I think it’s most telling that only 4 of the picks were what I’d consider under high pressure, where Cutler was flushed or on the move. You can look at the mechanics on some of those and there’s certainly a breakdown in setting feet and following through properly.
In the end, it’s just another sad reminder of how far the Bears are behind the Packers and how costly Jay Cutler’s interceptions vs the Packers really are. If the Bears are ever going to overcome the Packers, it’s going to have to start with Cutler. Maybe it will start tonight!?!?
