Chicago Bears Fan’s Take on Bears Win over Vikes (formerly known as a fan’s non-expert take)

I almost forgot how to write about a win. Final score, Chicago Bears 21, Vikes 13

I decided to use an archive picture to celebrate. It’s my Chicago Bears TV tray. My wife, Beth Napier, did the tiles, then I covered it with two-part epoxy. I added the orange fur to give it a more flair, I wanted to use more than the minimum amount of flair. Liberace would be proud.

Ahhhhhh. Finally, a win at Soldier Field.

I have been getting a little lovin’ after the game, and when our boy takes a nap, but not today. I think my wife just felt sorry for me the last three games.

It’s a shame too, because I was already half way “ready” from watching the Bears win.

Then I have to watch her bend over right in front of me picking up toys, which poses an unfair challenge.

To anyone that thinks it’s a gimme when you’re married, think again.

Throw having a baby into the mix, and it’s as rare as a Bears game without a pick.

I think my son hung up some of that “POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS” tape on his way out.

Back to the game……..

I liked the balance on offense, they didn’t abandon the run game just because they were down 10 points in the first quarter.

Matt Forte, reliable as always. Alshon Jeffrey made some of his trademark “kiss the sky” grabs. Brandon Marshall back to his usual awesome self.

For the fans that wanted to see some emotion from Jay Cutler, he delivered today. In the way of a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. He said something not-so-nice to a ref. I’m just glad to see him show some passion.

His teammates did look as though they supported him throughout the game, I personally needed to see that. I had my doubts.

This team has had enough drama for this season and next. I hope it tapers off a bit, I’m sick of it.

I even saw players smiling on the sidelines, it was cool. Haven’t seen that in a while. I wouldn’t want to see it during the losses anyway.

Our defense did very well. That Lance Briggs guy was there today, and he looked like he has something to prove. I won’t question why he doesn’t turn on the gas like that every week, I’ll just be grateful. I would rather remember him in a more positive way when he retires.

I could say that this win only came against the Minnesota Vikings, and that it doesn’t have that much merit.

I won’t say that. This season, we have become one of those “only” teams. Humility is a good place for the Chicago Bears and their fans right now.

Before this game, the Vikes even had one more win than we did. They have pulled off a couple of comeback wins in a row and look to be resurgent. To top that off, we had not won at home this season.

Call my being amicable, when speaking about the Vikings, a kind of “brotherhood” of the two NFC North teams that won’t be making the playoffs this year.

It also doesn’t appear that the Chicago Bears are going to tank the season for a high draft pick, which is fine with me.

Unless they meant to, and just won on accident.

Now if we can only get the Pack and the Lions to play along and have their own accidents. By accidents, I mean losing.

It’s hard to not play the what if game, when you haven’t been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Sue me for having hope.

It’s better than standing on a bridge wondering how cold the Ohio River is this time of year.

Peace.
