After David Bass’s strip sack of McCown later in the third quarter, the Bears offense was in business again at the Bucs 13 yard line. It took the Bears just one play to take the lead on Matt Forte’s burst to the end zone.

Matt Forte 13 yard TD run

Game situation: 1st down and 10 at the Bucs 13 yard line (3rd Quarter 4:57 left)

Personnel: 12 (1 RB, 2 TEs, 2 WRs)

Defense: Cover 2

Offensive scheme: Lead Iso

The Bears motion Rosario into the backfield to align in the I formation with Forte. The play is just a straight lead isolation as the lineman block down to the right and Rosario leads up through the hole between the left guard and left tackle. The Bucs do a solid job filling the hole as the OLB (Lemon) stonewalls Rosario at the line of scrimmage. However, with the defense flowing to the play side, a cut back lane emerges and Forte takes advantage. The cutback lane is the responsibility of the DE (Johnson), but he gets sucked too far inside as he crashes down on Bennett’s down block. Forte races to the second level and jukes the SS (Wright) causing him to whiff on the play. Forte eventually gets contacted by the FS (Goldson) as he tackles him into the end zone.
