Although the first two interceptions can’t be blamed solely on Cutler, his third interception was just another example of Cutler staring down his target. The Saints use a single high Safety, Warren, to protect the deep middle of the field, while playing 1-on-1 against the Bears receivers. It is third and short and Cutler decides to go up top to Jeffrey on a Go route down the sideline. It is a good decision as Jeffrey beats his man off the snap to win outside leverage and stack on top of the Cornerback. However, Cutler fails to move the deep Safety Warren off his spot during the play. Warren keeps his shoulders square as he backpedals and breaks on the throw when he sees Cutler point his should towards his target. Cutler could have thrown the ball more towards the sideline, but floats it a little too far inside. Warren shows good closing speed to cover ground quickly and intercept the ball before Jeffrey arrives.
