Central Florida (UCF)

ILB Terrance Plummer, SR #41 (5’11, 240, 4.78)

Scouting report – Old school run-stuffing MLB who plays with max effort and is a fierce hitter. He’s undersized for the NFL, but his work ethic and fierce playing style could earn him a job. Plummer is one of my favorite MLBs to watch in the draft and reminds me a lot of Chris Borland. He has the same limitations in coverage, but has shown the ability to slip the blocks of interior lineman despite his size disadvantage. Plummer has been the leader of the UCF defense the last three seasons and been very productive with over 100 tackles every season. I watched two of Plummer’s games this year and has had 14+ tackles and forced a fumble in each game. His lack of size is going to drop him in the draft, but he’s going to be a steal for some team on day 3.

NFL comparison – Chris Borland

Projection: 5th-7th round

SS Clayton Geathers, SR #26 (6’2, 206, 4.64)

Scouting report – 4-year starter who was second on the team with 83 tackles. Geathers has good size for a safety and has been a force against the run and a ball-hawk for UCF. Geathers, like Plummer, is always around the ball and is a sure tackler with solid technique. He plays very well in the box, is a vicious hitter and isn’t a liability against the pass. I wouldn’t be surprised if Geathers is a day 2 pick and he would be a steal if he falls to day 3.

Projection: 4th-5th round

WR Breshad Perriman, JR #11 (6’3, 214, 4.58)

Scouting report – Big receiver with good body control and YAC potential. Perriman has flashed big play potential at times this season, but has also struggled with dropped passes. Perriman should probably go back to school for another season to work on his concentration and route running. He has enough potential to get drafted, but sophomore QB Justin Holman should be even better next year and Perriman could put up huge numbers as his #1 WR with Hall and Worten gone. Perriman has all the tools to be a dominant outside receiver, he justs needs to improve the finer points of his game. I could see him being at worst a day 2 pick if he goes back to school, but is probably an early day 3 pick if he declares.

Projection: 4th-5th round

WR Rannell Hall, SR #6 (6’1, 198, 4.48)

Scouting report – Quick slot receiver with smooth change of direction skills and good hands. Hill will be limited to the slot at the next level, but has shown a willingness to go over the middle and the concentration to make tough catches and hold on after a big hit. Hall also has shown the body control to make tough catches on the sidelines. He’s not a deep threat, needs to clean up his route running, and is more quick than fast, but receivers who can make tough catches over the middle have value and Hall will at least get a shot as a UFA.

Projection: 6th-7th round

WR JJ Worten, SR #9 (6’1, 205, 4.63)

Scouting report – Clean route runner with excellent hands and the size to go over the middle and break tackles after the catch. Worten doesn’t have great speed and won’t ever be a deep threat, but accelerates well out of breaks and could be a YAC threat on slants and short routes over the middle. Worten’s reliable hands and kick returner skills should find him a roster spot on an NFL roster next year.
