The Chicago Bears this morning put out a full page ad in the Chicago Tribune and sent out an email to fans with an apology for the season which for this Bears fan is the most ridiculous thing the team could have done this morning.
This has to be the most disappointing season I can ever remember being a Bears fan with all of the expectations of a great offense, possible MVP candidate in Jay Cutler and Super Bowl aspirations. The Bears were a mess from Game #1 against the Buffalo Bills and even though they teased us at times for a couple of very short spells, this season has been a brown bag affair from the start.
It sad but in the Lovie era I can barely remember a Bears game that I turned off before the end of it, while this year especially by the time the Lions game on Thanksgiving Day arrived I barely had the stomach to turn the game even on.
So why send out an apology now? Why not apologize from day one for keeping Mel Tucker on the staff after last years horrific defense which only led to this season giving up 50 points a game with ease?
Why not apologize all season long for not running the ball with Matt Forte who’s getting close to the tail end of his prime in running back years?
Why not apologize for making the team worse than it was when the Trestman era arrived while showing no signs of leadership to turn the ship around when it appeared to be sinking?
If the Bears really mean this apology they will clean house from top to bottom tomorrow and start over with a clean slate! If anything is left over they might as well have not wasted their time sending out this lame apology in the first place.
Bears fans are the best and in the end we deserve the best product year in and year out, but to be always home for the playoffs is simply unacceptable and changes need to be made tomorrow. This apology is too little too late!
The apology is worthless if nothing happens on Black Monday!!!
What do you think of the apology?
