Punter Adam Podlesh was given the boot, paving the way for Phil Emery to draft Pat O’Donnell in the 6th round.

March 5, 2014

The Bears officially parted ways with Devin Hester when they didn’t offer him a contract.  Hester would go on to set the record for return touchdowns with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Bears splashed into Free Agency on Day 1, signing DE Lamarr Houston and S Ryan Mundy.  The Bears also released Julius Peppers.  Peppers went on to sign with the Packers and have a rejuvenated season.

The Bears signed defensive end Willie Young.  Young went on to be a gem of the Free Agent Class before tearing his Achilles late in the season.

March 26, 2014

The Bears pull off a surprise signing by adding former NFC North rival Jared Allen to a 4-year contract.  Allen went on to have hist least productive season as a pro and his lowest sack output since his 7.5 sack effort in 2006 when he was a member of the Chiefs.
