"According to Corporal Jake Smith, the Gwinnett County police public information officer, Jennings was stopped just before noon Wednesday while traveling north on Interstate 85. Jennings, driving his 2015 Mercedes S63 AMG, was observed by the arresting officer as traveling 99 mph in a 65 mph zone.According to Smith, upon approaching Jennings, “the officer noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and began a DUI investigation. Ultimately, Jennings was charged with speeding, DUI, and reckless driving. He was taken into custody and transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center without incident.”"
Jennings took to Twitter to defend himself from at least one of the charges:
It’s on Twitter, so it must be true, right? It will be interesting to see how this plays out. If Jennings is charged with DUI, it could be the first big decision that the new Chicago Bears GM, whoever that turns out to be, will have to make to set the tone for his regime.
Jennings signed a 4-years, $22.4 million contract extension last January. Jennings was going to slide inside to play the nickel corner until Charles Tillman’s season ending injury in Week 2. Jennings had been to a couple of Pro Bowls in 2012 and 2013 behind 13 combined interceptions, but had a down year in 2014 without recording a single pick.
