Wide Receiver:
This year’s WR group isn’t as top-heavy talent wise as last year’s group but it may be deeper overall. Like last year, teams should be able to find quality NFL WRs as late as the 5th-6th round.
UP – Jamison Crowder, Duke (5’9 | 174 | 4.53): His stock was already on the rise after an explosive performance in the Sun Bowl and he helped himself again this week. Most opposing corners named Crowder the most difficult cover this week and he caught everything thrown his way. He could be a dangerous slot receiver and return man at the next level.
UP – Phillip Dorsett, Miami (5’10 | 183 | 4.38): Was the fastest man in Mobile, but showed he was more than just a burner by running crisp routes and showing reliable hands. Like Crowder, Dorsett is a slot receiver / return man prospect who should provide good value in the middle rounds.
UP – Tyler Lockett, Kansas St (5’10 | 181 | 4.46): One of my favorite slot receiver prospects who I’ve written about a couple times already this offseason. Lockett had a great week showing sharp route running ability, sure hands, and the speed to take the top off of defenses.
DOWN – Ty Montgomery, Stanford (6’0 | 216 | 4.46): Great athlete, but scouts were disappointed in his route running ability, he had a few drops, and more than one scout mentioned his lackadaisical attitude during drills.
DOWN – Justin Hardy, East Carolina (5’10 | 190 | 4.49): Ran good routes and had a pretty strong week, but had a case of the drops on Wednesday. For a WR from a non-power conference who doesn’t stand out physically, Hardy can’t afford any red flags.
Tight End
There isn’t any 1st round talent like Eric Ebron or Tyler Efiert in this year’s draft, but there is a strong class of pass catchers in the day 2 range.

UP – Clive Walford, Miami (6’4 | 254 | 4.87): Had a strong week, highlighted by a diving catch on Wednesday. Walford surprised scouts with his athleticism and hands in receiving drills this week and proved he is over a late season meniscus injury.
DOWN – Ben Koyack, Notre Dame (6’5 | 249 | 4.77) – Looked good as a receiving threat, but Koyack got bullied in blocking drills. He was consistently driven back and needs to get much stronger if he’s going to block at the next level.
