The Chicago Bears offseason is in full swing as we head toward the start of the new league year and Free Agency.  As a part of our Chicago Bears Roster Review, we’re leading off by looking at Bears Free Agents.  New GM Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox have some tough decisions to make as they reshape the Bears roster in hopes of a bounceback 2015 season.

Jay Feely, Kicker, 38 years old

Jay Feely is the kicker the Bears signed in place of an injured Robbie Gould this season. He only kicked 6 extra point attempts (one was blocked) and 4 field goal attempts in Robbie’s absence. His main highlight was a successful onside kick against Dallas late in the season. His stint was as brief as stints could be. His main source of relevance came from his choice words about the quarterback with same first name after after the season ended. Feely came right out and said Cutler “will never be a leader.” Do we trust the word of the veteran or should kickers stick to kicking? It’s irrelevant. The Bears will not sign Jay Feely.

Robbie Gould will be back next year. If I was Ryan Pace, I would keep Feely’s number in his contact list but not resign him unless Gould goes down again. He was not too awful last season, but there’s no real reason to have him.
