We’re less that a week away from the start of Organized Team Activities and the Chicago Bears could be without starting quarterback Jay Cutler, who reportedly has a case of the measles.  Cutler has survived years of being battered and bruised behind porous offensive lines and has played while managing diabetes, so it’s ironic that a childhood malady might knock him out of the start of practice under the new Bears coaching staff.

Cutler’s wife Kristen Cavallari has been leading the anti-vaccination charge and has chosen not to vaccinate either of the Cutler children.  Now it seems like one of those little boogers got daddy sick.  Even though Cutler was likely vaccinated as a child, diabetics can have autoimmune deficiencies that could make them vulnerable due to weakened immune systems.

The Bears coaching staff will likely ask Cutler to stay away from the Bears locker room to avoid an outbreak within the team like the measles outbreak that plagued NHL locker rooms earlier this fall.  It’s another tough break during a tumultuous offseason for Cutler, who’s been the subject of trade rumors since the season ended and former head coach Marc Trestman and GM Phil Emery were let go.  The new regime hasn’t exactly gone out of their way to help Cutler feel secure in his spot with the Bears.

Today being April 1st, Cutler still has a few days to recover before the April 6th start of OTA’s.   Happy April Fool’s Day you Cutler haters!  Now go get your kids vaccinated!!
