2015 NFL Mock Draft 3.0: Round 5

2 of 4

142.) Chicago Bears – DE Leterrius Watson, Central Michigan

The Bears added a 3-4 left end in round 3, Mario Edwards, and now a potential 3-4 right end in Watson. At 6-5, 315 Watson has the prerequisite size for the position and has gotten significantly better every season at CMU. The size, strength, and athletic ability are there for Watson to develop into a starting 3-4 DE and there is no one better than Fangio to unlock his potential. It may take a year or two before Watson sees the field but he has more upside than most 5th rounders.

143.) Denver Broncos – NT Xavier Williams, Northern Iowa

The Broncos lost starting DT Terrance Knighton and with the move to a 3-4 this year they need some depth at NT behind Sylvester Williams. Xavier Williams needs some technique work and has to get stronger, but could be a rotational player right away and has starter upside.

144.) New York Giants – OT Tyrus Thompson, Oklahoma

He’s a day 2 talent, but questions about his work ethic and love for football drops him a couple rounds below where his potential dictates. Thompson played left tackle in college and has the long arms and quick feet to play the position at the next level, but his dedication and effort level will decide if he makes it. Either way it’s a good gamble this late for a team that needs O-line help.

145.) Philadelphia Eagles – QB Bryan Bennett, Southeastern Louisiana

Eagles GM/HC Chip Kelly recruited Bennett to Oregon back in the day and he has the size, arm strength, and foot speed to be an ideal fit for the Eagles high-octane offense. Worth a dice roll in round 5 if Kelly doesn’t figure out a way to trade up for Mariota.

146.) Atlanta Falcons – S Durrell Eskridge, Syracuse

The Falcons had one of the worst safety groups last season but get strong safety William Moore back and Eskridge has ideal length (6’3), good instincts and the talent to eventually become a starter.

147.) Cleveland Browns – CB Justin Coleman, Tennessee

The Browns picked up a veteran corner in free agency, but lost Buster Skrine and have no idea what they are going to get from last years 1st round pick, Justin Gilbert. Houston isn’t flashy and doesn’t have a high upside, but could be a solid sub package corner right away.

149.) Miami Dolphins – OLB Jake Ryan, Michigan

Ryan is an instinctive, fundamentally sound player who ran better than expected at the combine. He could play MLB or on the strong-side for the Dolphins who are currently trying to decide where to put LB Koa Misi. Ryan could back up whichever position Misi vacates and possibly earn a starting role early in his career. Worst case he will be a solid special teams player.

150.) Miami Dolphins – RB Karlos Williams, Florida St

The Dolphins lost their back-up RB, Knowshon Moreno, and could use some depth behind Lamar Miller in case he gets hurt or his breakout season was a fluke. Williams has an ideal size/speed ratio but wasn’t as productive as he should have been at FSU.
