Chicago Bears 2015 Draft Grades
Matthew O
Round 5 – S Adrian Amos, Penn St
Grade: A
I had Amos pegged as a 4th-5th round pick for the Bears since my first mock draft back in January. I thought Amos was one of the most underrated players in the draft and considered him a 3rd round value. After he ran a 4.37 40-time at his pro day, I figured the Bears chances of getting him on day 3 were slim but they got lucky when he dropped to the 5th round.
In his time with the Niners, DC Vic Fangio preferred big safeties with the versatility to play either free or strong safety, and that’s what he is getting with Amos. As a former corner he is solid in man coverage and has developed into a fierce open-field hitter as a safety. The Bears haven’t had a safety that other teams fear over the middle in a long time, but they could now with Amos.
