Round 6 – OT Tayo Fabuluje, TCU

Grade: C

Despite my lowish grade, I think Fabuluje has the potential to eventually develop into a useful blocker for the Bears. He is a massive player (6’6 | 353), with above average power, nimble feet for his size, and could become a mauling run blocker. Fabuluje only played two years of college football, so his blocking technique is understandably raw and he will need some time to be coached before he can hold his own against NFL pass rushers.

My issue with this pick is less about Fabuluje and more about the other players available when he was picked. DE Leterrius Walden (CMU) was available and the player I had pegged in my most recent mock as the Bears 5th round pick. Other players like DE Christian Covington, S Derron Smith, and OT Tyrus Thompson all had 4th-5th round grades on my board, play positions of need for the Bears, and were all available when the Bears chose Fabuluje.
