I’ve decided to try to resurrect an old favorite of mine, Bear Dawn. It’s the latest Chicago Bears news from around the interwebs. Here’s what you need to know for May 8, 2015:
It’s the start of Bears Rookie Minicamp, where John Fox will “get ’em on the grass” as he likes to say and see what they have. Here are three story lines to follow from the Tribune’s Dan Wiederer.
The Score’s Mully and Hanley talked to Chicago Bears third round draft pick Hroniss Grasu. Hit around the 12 minute mark to skip past the recap of that Bulls nightmare against the Cavs. I can only assume that his name will be on the dotted line when he arrives at Halas Hall before the Bears rookie minicamp opens later today.
The Bears draft choices put several veterans on notice. The Chicago Tribune’s Dan Wiederer explores which vets will need to step up their game.
ESPN’s NFC North beat writers debate which team in the division had the best draft. The Bears got some mixed reviews:
"I’m intrigued by what happened with the Bears, though. I liked their first couple of picks, but didn’t think their draft was quite as deep as some of the others in the division. Two of us (including me) had them last, and two of us had them first. What gives, guys?"
Chicago Football’s Arthur Arkush helps us get to know Chicago Bears newcomer, former Atlanta Falcons running back Jaquizz Rodgers:
"“Work hard, but also have fun while doing it. And that’s a good thing. Any time you can play football, go out there and have fun with your job, with guys who want to be out here, want to learn, want to grow as a team, it always helps.”"
The Bears made a cameo in the Deflategate report:
"Wells’ report includes text message conversations between Jastremski and Jim McNally, the game officials’ locker room attendant for the Patriots. In those conversations, in the week leading up to the Bears game, Jastremski and McNally use profanity in bantering about Brady’s sudden insistence that footballs be inflated at or near 12.5 psi."
I think the game should be under PROTEST!! Maybe if Brady’s balls were in spec, the Bears would have only lost 44-23 instead of 51-23!!!
Tom Brady doesn’t think the whole scandal has tainted their Super Bowl.
Remember how the Bears picked up former Broncos OT Paul Cornick the other day? Well, they waived him today because he failed his physical. What was your favorite moment of the Paul Cornick era?
