With the Chicago Bears coming off one of the team’s strongest drafts in years, Bear Goggles On is evaluating the team’s draft picks and undrafted free agents who have a shot at making the 2015 roster. The team is looking at a series of changes, as it switches from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense and transitions back to an offense focused on running the football, so there could be significant turnover.

Overview
Pierre signed with the Bears after he went undrafted and projects as a 3-4 defensive end who is solid against the run and non-existent against the pass, according to NFL.com’s analysis of Pierre. According to stats compiled by ESPN, Pierre played four seasons at the University of Miami, collecting only 2.5 sacks, which doesn’t bode well for his chances at making the roster. There are a few problems here: with the overwhelming trend in the league now to pass, Pierre would have a better chance at standing out if he could rush the passer and was shaky against the run. But he isn’t a pass rusher. Secondly, he’s not a certified run-stuffing defensive end. If he was that, he’d have been drafted.
