Latest Chicago Bears News: Over – Under, Kevin White, Sam Acho and Much More

Happy Monday, BEARS FANS!!!  I’ve decided to try to resurrect an old favorite of mine, Bear Dawn.  It’s the latest Chicago Bears news from around the interwebs.

Sorry this post was MIA late last week.  I had an overseas business trip with the people who actually pay me money, so I was a little out of the loop last week.  As I’m catching up on the latest Bears news, here’s what you need to know for Monday June 8, 2015…

Bovada.net installed the over/under for Bears wins at 7.  Where are you putting your money???

Martellus Bennett is still skipping out on practice.  Coach John Fox would like him to be there, but can’t hold up the show:

"“I would prefer him to be here. Right now, we’re putting all of our energy and focus on the guys who are.”"

Don’t worry about the tight end position.  The oft-injured Zach Miller is coming off another serious injury, but he looks good in camp.

One of the guys who has been at practice and made a good impression is linebacker Sam Acho, who’s earned praise from John Fox for his intelligence and work ethic:

"“The ability to understand a defense and to learn a (Shakepeare) play and remember it, that’s helped me on the field,” Acho said. “The same work ethic I have in the classroom, I take that same work ethic and skill set on the football field.”"

Since Roberto Garza was let go, left guard Matt Slauson has taken a more active leadership role:

"“He’s really attacked this offseason. He’s been great with our coaching staff and with his teammates and I’ve definitely seen him take a step forward in the leadership department.”"

If things weren’t tough enough for quarterback David Fales, now he’s got to battle back from shoulder surgery.  It’s a crowded room with Jay Cutler, Jimmy Clausen, Shane Carden and Pat Devlin.

Da Bears Beat’s Jonathan Wood takes a deep dive on what the Bears might expect from rookie wide receiver Kevin White.  As usual, it’s a great read if you want an in depth view.  Be sure to check out both Part 1 for his rookie year and Part 2 for his career outlook.

New Bears acquisition Pernell McPhee isn’t giving away any secrets, but Vic Fangio and the Bears defense have a lot of secrets:

"“How he’s got us playing—I can’t tell the secrets—but he’s got us where, you don’t know who’s dropping, you don’t know who’s rushing,” McPhee said, according to the Sun-Times. “It’s just different. It’s very creative.”"

We can’t talk about the Bears defense without an article about how this is the year that Shea McClellin is going to break out.
