  • I’m not. I don’t really care either way. I left Chicago in 1986 to go in the U.S. Army and now own a home in Marietta, Ohio. I am a Chicago Bears and Blackhawks fan and the Ohio State Buckeyes CFB fan. Thanks to NBCSN and the NFL Sunday Ticket by DirecTV, I am able to watch all of NHL playoffs and every single Bears game.

I think what eats people up about it is that $126 million dollar contract along with $54 million guaranteed that Jay is making for being the franchise quarterback for the great city of Chicago. I’ll go one step further and say that it’s that, and not enough wins to earn his paycheck.

Remember, his wife said it, not him. I know my wife says plenty of stuff I wished she hadn’t and vise-versa. Maybe he feels the same way she does. We don’t know. He’s heard enough from disgruntled fans in Chicago to make anyone want to find another home.

Can you imagine what their kids would have to hear in daycare? “My Dad says your Dad sucks!” “My Dad says Rex Grossman was better than your Dad!”

No one will give a crap about this if we beat the Green Bay Packers on opening day, but it is a quote that leaves a bad taste in people’s mouth.

I knew very little about Kristin Cavallari before Cutler came to Chicago. I never watched Laguna Beach or The Hills so there’s that. She seems to be vocal about certain issues and I respect the fact that she stands for something.

Chicago is a great city on its own and doesn’t need an endorsement. Anyone that has visited there, (summer is best) knows how Lake Michigan has a beautiful aqua color this time of year and how Chicago has one of the best night skylines of any city.

Just take a walk down the Magnificent Mile. Start at Water Tower Place. I sold shoes at Florsheim there before I joined the Army. Don’t forget to ride the “L.” while you are there. That’s the train, downtown it’s a subway, as you leave downtown it elevates, hence the term “L” or “EL.” Go to a Cubs game.

The pizza is the best in the world and the Chicago hot dog is an example of what they are supposed to be. All of the food is good there so you really can’t go wrong. Not everywhere in this country do they know what an Italian beef sandwich is like they know in Chicago.

I haven’t been there in a while, but I’m sure Rush Street still exists for night-time activities. My friends and I used to go there on Friday night for the best people watching available.

There are also many great museums that I was introduced to as a child on field trips. Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum of Natural History and Adler Planetarium to name a few. Oh, can’t forget the Museum of Science and Industry.

All of that being said, maybe it is not for everyone. And that is okay.

    Thanks, Kristin.

I just realized how much I miss Chicago.
