Dan Connolly – Guard/Center

The 32-year-old Connolly is a bit long in the tooth and started just 13 regular season games in 2014 – a somewhat deeper concern considering he’s played the full slate of 16 just once in his career. However, he’s still a very athletic, effective player when healthy and could be a big upgrade. With Kyle Long taking reps at tackle, there is a potential hole at guard, even with Will Montgomery possibly filling to that spot.

Regardless, with the age and health issues that the Bears had in 2014 along the offensive line, at the right price, this could be a nice pick up. The lack of depth and cohesiveness along the line in 2014 obviously played a major role in the lack of production offensively.

This is why more established bodies need to be added and at the right price, Connelly could be that guy. The Bears may not be able to swing it financially, but Pace and Co. should take a long hard look.
