8. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys: Romo found himself to become a very efficient NFL quarterback last season. While the Cowboys focused on the running game, Romo was able to pick his spots to make a mark. This did not lead to a ton of fantasy success, but he did toss 34 touchdowns to only nine interceptions. With DeMarco Murray no longer in Dallas, more the offensive burden will probably now fall on Romo. If he can keep up his efficient play with more opportunity, Romo has a chance to shine. He has some nice upside this season, and a fairly safe floor.
FP ADP: 64th Overall Pick, 8th QB off of the board.
7. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers: Newton took a step-back in the fantasy world last season after back-to-back years of elite fantasy production. His rushing ability is elite. Not only does he total yardage on the ground, his ability to score touchdowns with his legs is very impressive. It will be interesting to see how long Newton can continue to produce with his legs, but for now, he will be fine.
His passing abilities are limited, but he now has more talented weapons than ever before. I probably won’t own many Newton shares this season (his price leaves little room for value), but I can certainly see the appeal.
FP ADP: 61st Overall Pick, 7th QB off of the board.
6. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints: Brees tied for the most passing yards in the NFL last season. Certainly an impressive feat, but it may be the last time we see Brees put up those elite-level numbers. With the philosophy of the Saints seeming to prefer the running game these days, Brees’ fantasy value could be limited going forward. He is still a talented player, and I will not count him out, but the times seem to be changing in New Orleans.
FP ADP: 40th Overall Pick, 5th QB off of the board
