Good morning Bears fans and welcome to Bear Dawn, the latest Chicago Bears news and notes from around the web. Just two short days until our first taste of Bears football 2015 and we’ve got a trade to breakdown. The move was first reported by Field Yates of ESPN.
The Bears send OG Ryan Groy to the Patriots in exchange for rookie linebacker Matthew Wells, much more on this trade from BGO in a bit, but this is an intriguing move. In trading Groy, the Bears are trading a known quantity, a reserve OG, for a sixth round rookie linebacker/safety tweener. Maybe DC Vic Fangio and Ed Donatell can work their magic.
The trade wasn’t the only thing that went down yesterday, we had another day of training camp practice. The receivers stole the show today, with Larry Mayer of ChicagoBears.com giving his MVP of the day to Alshon Jeffery. Not only did Alshon have the catch of the day, in the back of the end zone leaping over Kyle Fuller but he added a number of others.

Marquess Wilson added an impressive catch of his own, and Kevin White made progress in his recovery of shin splints, doing some light running. And with the completion of day 10 we have still yet to see an interception from Jay Cutler, definitely a positive sign.
So far in training camp we’ve seen consistency from Cutler and Matt Forte, some impressive catches from Jeffery, Wilson, Eddie Royal, and at times a dominant front defensive seven. These are all things that I will be on the lookout for in our first preseason game against the Dolphins. As we saw Sunday night the Vikings had some players show flashes it is important that we have some flashes of our own, until then Bear Down!
