Lets start with the troubling injury news about Alshon Jeffery we discovered after the Bears finished their preseason opener against the Dolphins. It sounds like anything but a serious injury and I think we can safely draw the conclusion at this point that John Fox and company play it very safe on the injury front in preseason, but it’s troubling nonetheless.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears top wideout figures to miss a week.

The conclusion to draw from this is pretty obvious, isn’t it? Jeffery seems unlikely to play in the Bears’ second preseason game, a visit to Lucas Oil Stadium next Saturday to take on the Indianapolis Colts, and instead our best hope to see him in action this preseason may be the third game against Bengals on August 29th.

“It’s just the preseason” is the mantra we have to live by during these anxious days of injured wide receivers. Da Windy City’s Jordan Campbell posted a piece after the news broke.

After the game on Thursday, the Chicago Tribune’s David Haugh commented on the state of the Bears at this stage of the season. They might be an easy habit to kick, he writes, and its hard to disagree with some of his observations. We fans will stick with the team thru thick and thin, but there were some signs in the preseason opener that pointed to a tough season in 2015.

It’s just the preseason… it’s just the preseason.

In our Bear Goggles On re-cap of the Dolphins game, one of the players mentioned as having a strong outing was linebacker Sam Acho. In immediate hindsight that doesn’t come as a big surprise, considering the free agent addition is one of the few Bears linebackers with legitimate 3-4 experience. Larry Meyer of ChicagoBears.com talks about Acho’s strong start.

Looking for more reaction about the preseason game? Lets circle back to the Chicago Tribune where Dan Wiederer gives his take on all three phases of the Chicago Bears. He gives us his reasons for optimism, concern and something worth discussing for the offense, defense and special teams.

Can’t get enough reaction about the first preseason game? You can, you say? Well, sorry, this is about the extent of the news nowadays. We dissect and comment, then rinse/wash/repeat. Adam Hoge of WGNRadio.com bravely re-watched the Dolphins game and put together 10 interesting observations for Bears fans.

Step away from the ledge, he says. Probably good advice.

It’s just the preseason… it’s just the preseason.
