With Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White sidelined by injuries, Wilson had a big opportunity to step up as a top wide receiver. Wilson was expected to emerge last season but a broken clavicle cost him half his season. Guess what? It looks like Wilson could miss some time again this preseason with a hamstring injury. Wilson was running deep on a Jay Cutler pass toward the end zone and Wilson pulled up lame, grabbing at the back of his leg. He headed to the sidelines gingerly and although he returned briefly, he could not finish the game with a pulled hamstring.
You know how hamstrings can be, especially for wide receivers. Both head coach John Fox and Wilson insist the injury is minor, but so was Kevin White’s shin injury and we know how that ended up. I’m not saying Wilson is going to miss significant time, but it’s something worth monitoring as the Bears wide receiver ranks continue to dwindle.
