2015 Fantasy Football: Tight End Sleepers
Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports
With the 2015 NFL season less then a month away, it’s past time to start the prep work for your fantasy football draft. Over the next two weeks I will be breaking down every position with a primer, rankings, sleepers, busts, and rookies.

Tight end is always one of the thinnest positions in fantasy football with a few top guys and a bunch of mediocre, inconsistent options rounding out the next 12-15 players. This year there is a little more depth than usual, with some young players on the cusp of a breakout.
Last season Rob Gronkowski was the only TE to finish in the top 30 overall (29th) and only three TEs finished in the top 50 in overall fantasy points. The vast majority of TEs are going to fall outside the top 100 which doesn’t make it worth using a top pick or a significant portion of your auction budget unless you are targeting Gronk. I normally wait until there are only 2-3 TEs I like still available in a snake draft or in auctions try to keep my spend under $10.
As I mentioned above there are quite a few players at the tight end position who could be in line for breakout seasons but are going late in the draft, I listed a few below.
TE Sleepers
Martellus Bennett, Bears – On average he is going early in the 7th round of Yahoo drafts and 5th overall among TEs. Bennett led all TEs in receptions in 2014 and with the loss of Brandon Marshall and injury to Kevin White, there should be even more targets for the Black Unicorn this season. He should be going a round higher at least.
Jordan Cameron, Dolphins – It’s really just a matter of health with Cameron, he has the size, speed, and athleticism to be a force as a receiver. He’s leaving a team with one of the worst QB situations in the league and going to one with a promising QB, plenty of other weapons, and an offense that utilizes the TE often (84 targets for Clay last year). If Cameron can stay on the field he should finish in the top 5 among TEs, but is currently the 8th TE being selected.
