Tight Ends (4): Martellus Bennett, Dante Rosario, Zach Miller and Khari Lee

With all of the injuries at the wide receiver position, I can see the Bears leaning on Bennett in the passing game early in the season. He was fantastic last season, finishing with 90 receptions for 916  yards and six touchdowns. Despite holding out early in the off season activities, Bennett appears primed and ready to have another great season with the Bears.

Rosario appears to be a lock to make the roster, as he has been listed as the starter at “TE/FB” throughout the preseason slate. Rosario is a nice veteran to have around, and while his receiving skills leave plenty to be desired, he is a very good blocker. Rosario will likely be the Bears’ fullback when they line up with two players in the backfield, and he will also see some time at tight end.

Miller is more of a receiving type tight end who has never reached his full potential. He is a big and athletic player who can do some damage in the passing game, but consistency has escaped him throughout his career. I could see Miller having a relatively large role in the offense, especially with all of the injuries at wide receiver.

The last spot comes down to Lee and Bear Pascoe. I could see this one going either way, with Pascoe being the solid veteran, and Lee being the more exciting recently acquired rookie.

I cannot imagine the Bears traded for Lee without having the plan to keep him on the roster. With solid veterans like Bennett Rosario and Miller leading the way, the Bears can afford to shoot for some upside on the roster with Lee. Plus he will save them some money.
