5. Pernell McPhee

A defensive player finally makes the list!  This was a difficult decision to make with the sour taste from the putrid excuse for a defense the Chicago Bears have fielded the past two seasons, but I think McPhee will be a difference maker.

Pernell McPhee was a high-priced free agent acquisition this offseason after recording 7.5 sacks last year with the Ravens in a reserve role.  Many have questioned the move, but after seeing the season opener, I think the Bears are going to get their money’s worth.  He might not have been able to get Aaron Rodgers down for a sack (a difficult task for any defensive player), but he did get into the backfield quite a bit.

What I saw was a big, strong, athletic player who plays with a mean streak, all things that the Bears defense has been lacking the past two seasons.  With his physical ability in a scheme that plays to his strengths, I think McPhee could get to double-digit sack numbers this season.

What do you guys think?  Is there anyone I left off the list?
