It’s Bears vs Seahawks for Week 3 of the NFL campaign.  The 0-2 Chicago Bears head to the Pacific Northwest to face the 0-2 Seattle Seahawks.  If you just looked at the records or even some of the offensive and defensive rankings, this might seem like a competitive game.  But the reality is the Week 3 matchup pits the punchless and Jay Cutler-less Bears against a desperate Seahawks team eager for their home opener while welcoming back holdout defensive standout Kam Chancellor.

The odds are against the Bears.  They’ll be without quarterback Jay Cutler, who suffered a hamstring injury in the Bears’ Week 2 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.  Alshon Jeffery is also a question mark with a sore hamstring.  Add to that a defense in transition whose confidence is shaken after giving up 48 points in Week 2 and you’ve the recipe for a 14 point spread and a likely 0-3 start to the 2015 campaign for the rebuilding Bears.

To help us get primed for the big matchup, we reached out to our FanSided Seahawks sister site 12th Man Rising to help us get the Seahawks’ perspective on this matchup.  Check out my five questions and his answers:

1. Let’s get the prediction out of the way first. How bad is it going to be for the Bears? Any chance the Bears can even cover the two touchdown spread? Please include a score and a tissue for Bears fans.

On paper this game looks like a blowout. There also doesn’t appear to be much a chance that the Seahawks have a letdown given the 0-2 start, the home opener and the return of Kam Chancellor.

The Bears only chance is to play great defense and keep Seattle’s offense from getting going, and then hope to win a low scoring game. If the Seahawks get a couple of early scores, I think this game will get ugly in a hurry.

Seattle 23 – 6 Chicago

I’m all out of tissues. Sorry.
