Fantasy Football Week 5 Picks Recap:

Week 5 was my most accurate in my three years doing this column (77%) and I’m on a bit of a roll with consecutive weeks over 70%. Now that I just jinxed myself, I’ll get to a quick recap. My best start’em picks (14-3-4) were Antonio Gates (+17), Gary Barnidge (+17), and Allen Robinson (+14) while my only misses were moderate with Charles Clay (-5), Terrance Williams (-4), and Kendall Wright (-2) all falling short of their projected point total.

My sit’em picks were solid as well (10-4-2) with Matt Stafford (-11), CJ Anderson (-7), and Golden Tate (-5) all under-performing, but I missed badly on Andy Dalton (+12) and Anquan Boldin (+7).

Fantasy Football Week 6 Picks:

Note: Only players started in less than 75% of Yahoo leagues will be eligible for the start’em category. The purpose of this column is advice on players that might not be every week starters. I’ll usually list at least one “Deep Sleeper” pick for players started in less than 10% of Yahoo leagues who I think are under-projected.

If you have questions about specific players, hit me up on Twitter or in the comment section and I will get back to you before this weekends games. Good luck in your fantasy match-ups this week and go Bears!

Start’em

Quarterback

Peyton Manning, @CLE (73%, 17) – I never thought I would see Manning qualify for this list (<75% started), but here we are. Manning doesn’t look like close to the same guy who lit the league on fire since coming to Denver, but I still consider him a must start. Last week’s clunker against the Raiders inexperienced secondary was troubling, but I still think Manning will pick about a Browns D giving up the fifth most points to fantasy QBs.

Carson Palmer, @PIT (57%, 17) – This is a revenge game for Cards coach Bruce Arians and I think he’ll be airing it out on Sunday. Just a hunch really, but Palmer has put up 20+ fantasy points in 4 of 5 games and the Steelers pass D is nothing special.

Sam Bradford, NYG (33%, 17) – The Eagles offense has started to click the last 6 quarters or so and I think they will keep it up this week against a Giants secondary giving up the 10th most points to fantasy QBs.

Joe Flacco, @SF (24%, 17) – Ravens RB Justin Forsett is banged up, so I think Flacco may pass more than usual Sunday. The Niners have given up the 4th most fantasy points to QBs and Flacco’s top target, Steve Smith Sr, should be back.
