Matchup: Alabama Versus Florida – Saturday, December 5th – 3 P.M. CT – CBS

Position: Edge

College: Florida

Height: 6’3″

Weight: 270

Pro Comparison: Vinny Curry

Projection: Round 2

Scouting Report:

Strengths:

A classic run stopping edge player, who is versatile enough to put his hand in the dirt or rush out of a two point stance. Bullard has great strength and length.

Can be seen continually engaging blockers, holding them at a distance, and locating the ball carrier coming out of the backfield. Displays a good initial burst off of the line of scrimmage.

Brute strength and the willingness to put the team before himself, Bullard has played through injury and various position tweaks. A hard working, physical player, Bullard displays a knack for stuffing the run and taking on multiple blockers.

Weaknesses:

Not a quick twitch athlete. Instead focuses on his strength and technique to beat opposing blockers.

Does not have a whole lot of sideline to sideline agility. Has a tendency to play too high up, which leads to him being contained rather easily.

Why It Makes Sense:

The Bears need quality players on their roster. Although Bullard does not have the flashy style of his former teammate, Dante Fowler, Bullard is a glue player that makes you better as a unit.

With Pernell McPhee being the pass rush extraordinaire and the Bears defensive line being thin, a player like Bullard would help the cause when facing off against run heavy offenses.

Bullard may not be the shiny red sports car, but he is the reliable economy car. This may allow for him to fall into the late first round, a spot that the Bears could land him. With him lined up opposite Pernell McPhee, teams will have their hands full if they so choose to run or pass.
